We just got back from a two week holiday in Italy. We rented a car and finally drove approximately 1400 kilometers between Rome, Pompeii, Abruzzo/Sulmona, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Padova, Venice, and Milan. I could not have done this trip with no GPS.
CONS: just a couple. When we got to Rome that the GPS (Nuvi 265WT) did not initially pick up any satellites, particularly inside. After about two times and while walking outside it began to pick up satellites and from there it worked fine.
In addition, it led me into a parking garage Siena which finally led me down a one-way road going the wrong way. This generated a tiny traffic dilemma and a few temporary stress but finally we re-directed to the exact same garage. Last, our resort near Venice was situated on a pedestrian-only piazza therefore the GPS literally directed me where I actually was not supposed to be, even although next to the resort at which an attendant led us into a parking location.
PROS: For me personally the GPS spared our trip. I might not have pushed to the areas we went relying solely on maps. My spouse and I'd have murdered each other.
